Some tips and tricks to help get access to our electronic resources when connecting from outside KAUST campus.

Get Off-Campus Access to E-Resources

There are two methods you can use to access our e-resources from off campus:

  1. Use Google Scholar, clicking on the "Full-Text @ KAUST" links on the right (more on this here) or the Library-provided search tools (Library Website, LibGuide AZ Databases or EBook/EJournal AZ Portal), and type your KAUST portal username and password when prompted. This is proxied access.
  2. Establish a KAUST VPN connection and you will be able to access resources as if you were on campus.

Some common troubleshooting issues

I cannot access the website
  • Make sure your workstation is connected to the web.
  • Try accessing another website. If you can't access another website then you may be having connectivity problems.
  • Check your phone line, modem, or cable.

My login failed

Check if your KAUST credentials are correct. They would be the same used to access the webmail or the portal.

I have trouble displaying PDF documents

Make sure you have a current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Some databases open PDFs in new windows or tabs. You may need to temporarily disable pop-up blockers.

I'm getting a Proxy error message

If you're getting an error message that contains the words "Proxy", please copy and paste the error message into an email and send it to us.

I still have problems

If you are still having problems connecting to a database or accessing articles, you will find more information in our Off-Campus Access Libguide.
