When you make a dataset or software submission to the KAUST Repository you will be asked to choose whether you would like to register a DOI, as in the below screenshot:
We recommend requesting a DOI whenever you are depositing unique materials that will not also be deposited in another DOI-minting repository.
If you request a DOI, you will receive two emails once your submission has been reviewed and approved by library staff. The first email will provide you with a Handle link to your record, while the second email will contain the DOI that has been registered.
While the DOI should redirect to the record in the repository immediately, there will be a delay until information about your dataset will appear in the Datacite search interface.
To get started, go to the KAUST Repository, log in with your KAUST username and password, hover over the "+" symbol in the upper left-hand corner, click on "New" -> "Item", and then select either the Datasets or Software collection, as appropriate.
The repository also automatically registers DOIs for all theses and dissertations in KAUST so as to make it easier for readers to cite and reference them. DOIs can also be registered for other item types, such as posters, presentations, and reports, upon request.
