The University Library proudly invites you to participate in International Open Access Week 2019. This year’s theme is “Open for Whom? Equity in Open Knowledge”. This timely topic reflects a scholarly communication system in transition as governments, funders, universities, publishers, and academics increasingly adopt open policies, infrastructure and practices.
In celebration of the 2019 International Open Access Week, the University Library is hosting a discussion panel on the growing use of preprints in different research disciplines. A preprint is a version of a scientific manuscript posted on a public server prior to formal peer review. While the arXiv preprint server, of which KAUST University Library this year became a supporting member, has long been a key part of communicating new research in physics and mathematics, the last few years have seen a number of other preprint servers, such as bioRxiv and ChemRxiv, emerge for researchers in other scientific disciplines.
