Finding Specific Journals
The KAUST Library subscribes to thousands of journals. To find out if the library subscribes to a specific journal, search the E-Journal Search from the Library's homepage.

Researching a Specific Journal
Before publishing your paper with a publisher, always check to see if the journal has a good reputation. The first place to check is to see if the journal is considered to be predatory or fake. You can review Predatory Journals criteria on this Library Guide, and you can search the Cabell's Predatory Reports database (link below) to make sure the journal isn't blacklisted. Next, you can check the Ulrich's Global Serials Directory to see if the journal is listed, if it is considered to be peer-reviewed or refereed, and if the journal is indexed by the major research databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.

- Cabell's Predatory ReportsFormerly known as Cabell's Blacklist, this is a searchable database of journals whose practices have been identified as being deceptive. The Predatory Reports analyze publication by over 60 indicators to document exploitative publishing practices.
- Ulrich's Global Serials DirectoryUlrichsweb is a comprehensive guide to periodicals (newspaper, magazines, journals, newsletters, etc…) from around the world. It is used to quickly find ISSN, publishers, subjects, indexing, abstracting, full-text availability, peer review, and more information on over 300,000 serials.
Top Journals in Marine Science
A perfect journal ranking system does not exist. However, researchers in Marine Science can use Scopus (Elsevier) or Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate/Web of Science) to explore rankings for a particular journal or the journals in a specific field.
