The KAUST Libraries have made many Open Access publishing agreements with a wide variety of publishers. Check this Library Guide to see if your publisher is one where we have a Read and Publish agreement, or a Subscribe to Open agreement, or if we have negotiated discounted APC fees with your publisher.
The KAUST Library does not subscribe to every journal, nor are we able to purchase every book in a discipline. If you need an article, book chapter, etc... that the library does not have, please contact our KAUST Library Document Delivery service to get access to the resources that you need.
The KAUST Library subscribes to thousands of journals. To find out of the library subscribes to a specific journal, search the E-Journal Search from the Library's homepage.
A search for the journal "Bioengineering & translational medicine" in this search gives me the name of the database where I can find the journal and the year(s) of the KAUST Library's access to the specific journal:
Many KAUST-subscribed journals can be read through the Browzine app and website:
Before publishing your paper with a publisher, always check to see if the journal has a good reputation. The first place to check is to see if the journal is considered to be predatory or fake. You can review Predatory Journals criteria on this Library Guide, and you can search the Cabell's Predatory Reports database (link below) to make sure the journal isn't blacklisted. Next, you can check the Ulrich's Global Serials Directory to see if the journal is listed, if it is considered to be peer-reviewed or refereed, and if the journal is indexed by the major research databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.
If you are not sure about a particular journal or publisher, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR BESE LIBRARIAN for assistance. You should also discuss the particular journal/publisher with your professor.
A perfect journal ranking system does not exist. However, researchers in Bioengineering can use Scopus (Elsevier) or Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate/Web of Science) to explore rankings for a particular journal or the journals in a specific field.
The free website Scimago Journal & Country Rank uses Scopus data to create its journal rankings. Below are links to various journal rankings in Environmental Science and Engineering subjects as found in Scimago:
