APIs and Datasets for Scholarly and Patent Information: Subscribed APIs

Access to subscribed APIs is tied to KAUST library subscriptions. They will typically require that an API key be created under an account with a KAUST email address and in some cases also require that requests come from within the KAUST IP range.

Subscribed APIs that cover most published scholarly literature and provide access to abstracts, citation counts, reference lists, and other basic metadata are:

• Lens.org Scholarly and Patent APIs
• Scopus APIs
• Web of Science Lite API

In some cases, publishers also provide their own API. In some cases these APIs are publicly available, but some features, such as retrieval of full text files for text and data mining, may be linked to our subscriptions. Examples of publisher APIs are:

• IEEE API
• ScienceDirect APIs (Elsevier)
• Springer Nature APIs
