APIs and Datasets for Scholarly and Patent Information: Home

Scholarly and patent APIs and datasets can empower you to flexibly access and work with information in a number of ways.

Examples of situations in which you may benefit from using an API:

• The normal user interface for a database or system does not support the specific query or export options you need.
• You want to combine select information from two or more databases or queries.
• You want to automatically retrieve any new or modified results to your queries and process them.

Examples of situations when you may need to work with bulk datasets:

• The size of data that you need is too large to be retrieved within API request limits.
• The content that you need (such as segmented full-text in JSON or XML format) is not available via an API.
